It’s a story only God could have written.

Long before we ever knew each other, our lives were quietly weaving together. Growing up in the neighboring towns of Granger and Taylor, Texas, our families, the Hyzaks and the Hajdas, shared the same Czech heritage and Catholic traditions. We likely crossed paths many times at church and school events, festivals, and small-town gatherings, never realizing the connection that would one day unfold.

Years later, our paths crossed again in Dallas, both of us launching our careers as young professionals at Ernst & Young.

Life then took us in different directions. We moved out of state, each facing significant personal loss and deep challenges. But with God’s grace, the love of our children, and the support of our families and friends, we found strength and healing in the journey.

Central Texas always called us home. And in September 2024, at the St. Mary’s parish picnic, we reconnected. A few friendly texts (thanks to Danny Boy for swapping numbers!) turned into real conversations. Then one date, two dates, three dates... in a row. What followed was a beautiful long-distance relationship filled with handwritten letters, emails, texts, virtual calls, and long nightly phone conversations—even when Randy was across the globe.

The road trips and flights were worth every mile. Together, we’ve celebrated our children’s college milestones, explored Texas and beyond—Nevada, Alabama, Florida, Oregon, California, Colorado, Tennessee—and even ventured overseas to Dublin, Ireland, where Randy proposed and Cindy said “yes.”

We’ve shared laughter over differences—like how Cindy lived in Austin for three years during college and didn’t know of Randy’s favorite local restaurants. And Randy has been challenged, humored and mentored by Cindy and her Blackjack abilities to truly ever have a chance in beating the Vegas odds.

But through it all, we’ve found joy in the simplest and most important things: attending Mass together every Sunday, watching sunsets in our own backyards, and gathering around kitchen tables with our families for meals, visits and card games.

Speaking of the most important things in life... our newly soon-to-be beautiful blended family includes six amazing children: Meg (24), Izzy (23), Zach (23), Jake (22), Jake (22) and Zach (20). And yes, two Jakes and two Zachs! It’s as fun (and confusing) as it sounds—more nicknames are definitely in order.

Our story is just beginning. And it wouldn’t be complete without you. Your love, your support, and the role you’ve played in our lives mean more than words can express. We hope you’ll join us on December 22, 2025, to celebrate this next chapter.
